3 interesting nuggets
  • While in Tibet, I smuggled a letter from a Tibetan Monk to the Dali Lama!
  • When I was 15 I was bribed into running with.....food!
Why do you run?

I run to connect with and experience an energy that is beyond explanation. I run to fellowship with like minded champions who are all on individual journeys joined together by forward motion.

What is your most memorable race?

My first Marathon (LAM 1998) my mom was there to watch me run. I ran 3:56 and promptly passed out after crossing the finish line! I experienced it all during that race, most memorably the hallucinations at mile 18....that was the trip of a lifetime! Also the first 1/2 I ran with my siblings! What an honor to experience joy, fear, suffering and the exhilaration of crossing the finish line with family for the first time!

What is your advice to someone just starting?
Do You! Be You!  It’s easy to get caught up in what others are doing or how fast they are moving. Just focus on having a good time, enjoy the journey and those around you. Let them help you when you need a lift up or a kick in the ass. Life is too short to be worrying about how fast you’re moving....unless you’re trying to PR or BQ!

Relax. Have a beer. Go for a run. It will probably be approved by the time you get back :-)
